Humble
Beginnings

After conducting a survey on various autism-related pages, I found out that many families have difficulty supporting their special needs children in school. This got me thinking about the advantages of having a mobile sensory room accessible to all schools.
Such an environment can provide a safe and sensory space for children to regulate their emotions and bodies, which has been known to help with learning and behaviour. It can be a refuge for those facing difficulties or being bullied.
Moreover, it can make it possible for occupational therapists to offer their services to families across Australia, even in their own front yards.
It can be especially challenging for parents of ASD children, who are often unable to partcipate in the same activities as their neurotypical peers.
This can be incredibly stressful for busy households that also need to factor in travel and long waits in therapy waiting rooms with their unsettled children and siblings in tow.
Our mobile sensory room can provide a valuable safe space for parents, children, and teachers to interact, without the hassle and stress of travel. It can also provide peace of mind to parents, knowing that their child’s therapy needs are being met.
Benefits Of Working With Us
We strive to empower families with special needs children to reach their highest potential. Additionally, we provide schools with the necessary resources to foster an optimal learning environment.
At School
Equipping autistic students with the skills and tools to self-regulate can create an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment that fosters better behaviour among students and staff. Doing so can ultimately help students feel more comfortable and supported in the learning process.
At Home
Families now have the opportunity to spend more meaningful moments together instead of constantly running to therapy sessions. Home-based appointments provide a convenient and comfortable atmosphere, while also avoiding any potential disruption to siblings.
I have thoroughly tested various sensory equipment and toys on my 8-year-old son with a level 3 Autism diagnosis.
Life as we knew it changed when our first born son was diagnosed with autism.
As I navigated this new world, I was faced with a long waiting list of 8 months for occupational therapy in my area. This meant my son and I had to endure a 2.5 hour car ride to and from therapy sessions that were only 50 minutes each, twice a week.
It was a trying time, dealing with the diagnosis and trying to do the best I could for my son. That’s why I created a mobile sensory space. A space to provide occupational therapy right where the family needed it, rather than having to travel.
No more car rides, no more irritating waiting rooms, and more free time to spend with my family.
After speaking with many other families of special needs children, I realised that a mobile sensory room could provide a safe place for our children to self-regulate, and help with learning, communication, attention, and behavior in the classroom.
We need these rooms in schools across Australia, so our children can learn and interact with their peers and teachers in a harmonious environment.
